Yeah, Detroit popularized the name, but Kraftwerk had already invented the form. Something the early Detroit artists themselves recognized even if the historical revisionists don't.
Yep. I love early techno and “electric funk” and it was through them that I looked up Kraftwerk because a lot of early techno artists cited them and the song Planet Rock samples Trans Europe Express and Numbers. Made me go out and buy (now downloaded) all the Kraftwerk albums
I have that album. I first learned about him because I love disco and saw his name attached to Donna Summer's music and looked up his other work. Definitely a major innovator.
