All these times I thought it was just a simple jealousy and inferiority complex being upstaged by Japan. Sure, there is some basis in that, the fact that a lot of people would rather watch Japanese anime or read manga over any western entertainment or the fact that single work of one mangaka who completely dominated and mogged the entire western comic industry but the more I consume Japanese stuff and kind of began wondering about it, the more things are becoming clearer why they seethe about Japan.
If you are like me, there's a time when I have to just completely avoid any western entertainment made by the Westerners even if it's just youtubers because in my case my curiosity gets the better of me and wanting to know what's going on lately. I don't even check out any geo-political situation because that's just too much pessimism but even the gaming news in general is just irritating, only just recently things seem to be looking up. All these western stuff has been demoralising to me so all the more reason for me to take an extreme measure.
A long time ago, I learnt Japanese language just for this occasion when I felt the need to escape from anything anglo-western. Ideally, I would have wanted to live in Japan but my circumstance doesn't allow it but considering the country I'm living in, I think I have to consider it sooner or later. For now I'm not sure if I'm the only one that does this, but I made the separate youtube accounts, one for normally browsing western channels and watching commentary videos and the other one completely exclusively for consuming anything Japanese. And does it work great? You filter 95% of anything west, no longer do you have to see any of that tiresome progressive and trans stuff or snarky comments. You are free from being exposed to that garbage 99% of the time.
This is what makes these usual suspects truly seethe about Japan, the fact you can truly escape from goyslops if you can. It's not just simple jealousy but the fact Japan can provide the normal heterosexual men good escapism, still good fanservices, great stories and cute girls. etc. This is also the reason why western publishers were adamant about putting activist localisers to sabotage the Japanese entertainment or the usual suspects trying to force ESG on Japanese companies, in that aspect Japan seems to be losing the ground. These days, it's not just reddit or twitter you get to see progressive slops. Even in 4chan, it's very hard to avoid typical western degeneracy, it’s inevitable you have to see some of the filth sooner or later. It makes me really glad at times I continued learning Japanese even after realising I don't get much chance to actually speak in Japanese at all. This feels really like the only way to avoid the western politics in general.
Fortunately things seem to be turning for the better in the west like every woke stuff seems to be getting exposed and normies are finally speaking out against this stuff. I'm kind of mad they waited this long and now that woke virus is starting to infect Japan a little bit. I want to be optimistic as the pendulum seems to be finally moving back. In short, if you can, support and reward the Japanese creators who don’t sell out their integrity to anglo-western zeitgeist and keep their contents politics free.
They are also a low barrier of entry industry, often with little care for your background.
774 was a hentai artist drawing shit like girls getting raped by monkeys, until he got changed by NaruHina, and then suddenly turned his hateful bullying miniseries into the now massively popular RomCom Nagatoro.
That shit would never fly in the West on many levels, yet in Japan its pretty common for mangaka to get their start drawing hentai doujins.
I think that's also happened in reverse too, had some big mangaka artists doing Hentai doujins because they can.
Saying that does the West have anywhere as big a prominent drawn adult media as in Japan? The West seems more focused on having REAL people for their porn and the left's attempts to 'undemonise' them so they can easily work in other industries, seems to have largely flopped unless they just own and acknowledge their past.
That method can also go bad for them though. The mangaka behind Tejina-senpai earlier this year started drawing porn of her own characters, which everyone hated and they literally bullied her off the internet in rage and disgust. Because Japan is still big on "purity".
Also the internet is filled with webcomics that are "adult" enough to be on par with Japan, Oglaf comes to mind, but they aren't nearly as big or popular. But there isn't a real industry around it.
Yeah it's EXTREMELY risky to make R34 of stuff YOU'RE the author of, as often you're also seen as sad. Just ask Gearbox over Battleborn over that. If you're not the author, go nuts as there's a degree of separation.
If you start lewd, you can do anything but if you made sweet innocent characters and then draw them getting railed, people get pissed, I know it's all fiction but that's how people work.
Doesn't help she went super hardcore. NTR, fat ugly bastard, dogs. Literal peak degenerate shit.
But she wouldn't have had to do that if she wasn't so desperate for money after being a fucking retard and losing all her fans. Turns out the "clearly building up a romance" genre's audience doesn't enjoy a "JK they were just friends the whole time" ending multiple times.
Not even Japanese corporations' famous leniency towards copyright infringement will tolerate mangaka drawing doujinshi of their own work, because it will be mistaken as official.
Dr. Stone was always my go-to example for prior hentai artist, because the anime series, while fairly attractive, doesn't go heavy on fanservice/ecchi early seasons. And then the medicine-giving scene happens, the girl on her knees, face up at the guy's crotch, as he pumps white stuff into her waiting open mouth. Just medicine, people! And then back to the standard antics, it's just one scene in the entire anime. But it's always fun to point out to friends who are new watchers, "oh, right, forgot to mention, the artist started off drawing hentai doujins, I wonder, can you notice?".
Lol. Lmao, even.
Two doujins sold at Comiket, and a prequel webcomic showing Hinata and Naruto's awkward and spaghetti-filled moments as a new couple. It's tooth-rottingly sweet, and complete tonal whiplash to anyone familiar with 774's content at the time.
