The only thing I really hate about this is how the delusional stereotype Japan has had of typical Americans will become completely changed. No more loud swearing cowboys. We're all gonna be seen as crazy trannies in the butts of their jokes.... Very sad....
That's only a problem if being american is core part of your personality.
Uhm. Uh, no.
I live here, I don't want my country and its culture - my culture - to be a pathetic, degenerate joke.
"American" isn't exactly a core part of my identity exactly, but I am 100% American. And I live in America. So I want America, and American culture, to be a pleasant, cool, or badass thing. And not the aforementioned pathetic degenerate joke, completely divorced from reality.
I give you this evening's Terrible Take Award.
There's no point worrying about things outside of your control, that thing being other people thoughts.
Japanese will think whatever they want about your country and there's not a damn thing you can do about it.
We're in this fuckfest since 5 guys saga exactly because some neurotic freaks thinks they can control other people's opinions.
I think you read into my comment from the wrong angle. I'm simply saying the joke shifts to something less funny and more generally sad. It's easier to laugh at ourselves when we are being portrayed as loud assholes.. because we generally are given our different culture. Much less so when we are being ridiculed for the very thing some us hate as well.
I don't.
You lack healthy amount of disconnection from everything.
There is nothing healthy about committing to something 100%. That's a text book definition of obsession.
