how many gen z raised on instant entertainment are going to look at classics?
You would be surprised. There has actually been a pretty major trend of Gen Z doing just that and hitting up the classics instead of the stuff made for them. Apparently MASH is pretty popular with Gen Z, and they have been getting into a lot of 1990's and 2000's entertainment.
Yup, and pretty soon they'll just start hacking and cutting out "problematic content" or removing episodes that don't "align with today's views". I believe there were some news articles about that happening with a bunch of WWE's Attitude Era content.
A trend isn’t the majority, from what I’ve seen is that about 25-35% of gen z is growing up with some semblance of reality and being grounded in objectivity versus subjectivity. This against the highest rate of “lgbtq” at 20-25% in gen z doesn’t Trend well
I'm Gen X and not long ago I watched shows before my time while eating dinner, including the original Perry Mason. For me it's more desirable to watch than most of the slop coming out today.
One night I even decided to put on a random Marx Brothers movie. I was blown away at how talented the brothers were: They could sing (Harpo didn't sing or talk on film however), dance, play musical instruments (Harpo was also a world class harp player), deliver clever jokes with good timing, and make comical facial and body expressions. Gen Z ought to learn about Vaudeville.

That's precisely why a lot of stuff being streamed on newer platforms is being censored for "modern audiences" and why they're desperate to phase out physical media: https://movieweb.com/movies-that-have-been-edited-changed-or-censored-streaming/

MASH is? That gives me some hope
