Mainstream journalism was in it's death throes already, their whining is lowing the casket.
Between AI programs being developed that can do their job quicker, higher quality and for less money, to the fact smaller YouTubers are more trusted to provide information than the Mainstream, the writings on the wall.
If I was to put a prediction, I think the collapse will start probably with CNN since they are a WB property and they aren't doing so hot nowadays and their leader is known to ruthlessly cut waste. Once one falls, the other domino's will quickly follow.
The only journalists I recognise are the ones that do what they can to get the info, whether in a war zone, in a remote area or risking reprisal by a corporation or deep state establishment.
Even when once they get it, there's the challenge of messaging it to the masses...many of whom can't even find their own country on a world map, many who have not been taught critical thinking, many who will discard anything that conflicts with their personal beliefs, and many who won't remember a thing you reported five minutes later.
That and many of these idiots don't even understand the concept or philosophy of journalism. They're either activists or think that being a propagandist is being a journalist.

The funny thing is: AI could never replace actual journalism, not at least without a physical body to do actual investigation and interviewing.
They aren't journalists, they're bloggers. Journalist is dead. It may, in fact, never have lived.

It's already happening for 'online media companies/ gaming journalism'
I'm counting the days for when Kotaku finally shutters, I'll make a post with the words 'Mission Accomplished when they finally crumble.
We’ll need to rename to 404inaction
This is true, but I sometimes think that en masse they'll attempt to make themselves appear relevant by spreading some massive campaign of lies.
Oh, wait, they've been doing that since at least 2016, so there you have it--the flailing of a dying beast.
