I get your point, but in normalizing such an extreme response we open the door for that extreme response to be used on us. "Executing people for being stupid or infectiously awful" will be used far more on people who question the Regime than it will on improving us by removing cancer.
Like, it'll probably reach that point eventually in our devolution. But we shouldn't make it easier for them to start offing us in our own haste.

I don't believe such thinking always holds up against an opponent who will violate every standard and create any precedent to destroy you, but it's the kind of thinking a stable and rational civilization needs.
Agreed that the extreme response isn't going to be productive, but I think it's worth recognizing the threat that allowing this sort of behavior poses to society and brainstorming some ways to actually address it and prevent this shit from propagating.
If we just allow this sort of thing to pass by with no repercussions then we will only get more of it.
And that's fine, we should try to prevent it. I just think outright opening the door to killing them (aka getting the government involved) can only go poorly.
