Not reading the article, but "Neon Deion" was his name because he was such an obnoxious showboater - one of the original shuck&jive types in pro sports, and ushered in the lack of sportsmanship seen now. It's not surprising that he can recruit a lot of dumb ass black kids who think that shit is cool.
