You see, when slaves tried to escape plantations, their former owners would hunt them with dogs. Having a pet dog is just an act of white supremacy that reminds blacks of their ancestry. After all, just as all whites are descended from slaveowners, all dogs are descended from dogs owned by slaveowners. So shooting the dog was really just an act of racial justice.
