They always say that anyway. How can't you speak up? I mean it's been decades since whistleblowing rape would mean any sort of punishment that wouldn't net a big court settlement. They couldn't speak up because they knew they went along willingly.
At this point over a century, hanging for rape claims were common for the 19th and early 20th centuries.
