Culture shock, sure, but the whole “Nordic model” is just a bit… Shit, honestly.
The whole country (that I have seen so far) feels like “Pleasantville”, but woke, and uber-modern, rather than 1950s Americana…
And the Turks. The fucking Turks here. Eugh…
Their rudeness seems more intentional than I would say it seems to be with more… “Native” Swedes.
Gonna be interesting learning to survive here. As a very “social” person, I… Certainly have some adjusting to do.
The strange mix of ultra-conformity and extreme cultural introvertedness is… A vibe. I’ll say that much.
Customer service? Ha…
What a fascinating part of Swedish culture. Thank you for sharing.
It's one of those things that sounds good in theory, but don't work in a multicultural neighborhood. Back in the 50's when most homes were built it made more sense to have shared laundry rooms with bigger and better equipment because you don't wash 24x7 every day anyway.
Next interesting topic to learn more about is the Millionprogramme, (miljonprogrammet) a housing project for the 50's which mixes 50-50 American suburbia with Soviet style commie blocks in segregated neighborhoods, all good in theory, well planned neighborhoods, the single family homes are actually doing great, large houses with even larger, more practical and tax free basements while the multi family commie blocks provides cheap apartments. Perfect if you're young or old.
