This has been the argument since Iraq, America gives too much focus and money to international issues (some which they cause looks at CIA) and very little domestically.

If America instead of Iraq focused on infrastructure spending, it'd still be a powerhouse, the migrant crisis would never have existed and a lot more of the middle east would be stable

Ironically, I doubt Trump and Brexit would have happened either in that alternate history as Iraq caused a cascade that led to more people waking up, so a bit of a butterfly effect there.
