A car fire that could be cleared from the road in a couple of hours will now cause total gridlock for days because it is unsafe to approach the vehicle.
I think they covered the Rimac in sand for 5 days and it was still smouldering when they were eventually able to move it.
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea for companies to put all their eggs into the EV basket.
I know this probably could have happened with an ICE or hybrid car, but if EV fires can be this bad, maybe the technology just isn't ready for forced widespread adoption.
Take a peek at the YouTube channels for both series.
They used to get about 50,000 views on all of their videos. Now they can barely get half that, and even racing websites really only cover them when something like this happens.
Not to mention how at the races, the crowd sizes look rather paltry.
At this point, I'd honestly rather see them just get put out of their misery so that people who didn't get conned by false globalist promises start over.
They'd at least try to stay true to what people want; look at how beloved BTCC and WRC still are now that they've gone down the hybrid route.
They actually have a balance between spectacle and technology.
The idea of an EV race is retarded. Not only are the batteries fucking heavy, putting extra stress and heat on them drastically reduce their lifespans in the best-case scenario, chemical fires in the worst.
I agree. Hybrid racing makes more sense. Cuz you don't have to have this huge battery for regenerative braking.
I'm not sure anyone is really interested in electric. The cars (' batteries) will probably get better . I think leagues and sponsors are positioning themselves to profit at that point.
The thing is, we know the problems, and have since the Hamster crashed on Grand Tour. Trying to act like it's a surprise is ridiculous.

I looked it up, you are correct. It took five days because the batteries kept catching on fire.
It will put a lot of emergency services at full time.

ICE fires can be put out relatively easily. It's not nearly as big of a deal for the fire response team as this shit.
ICE fires also don't self-oxidize or spontaneously reignite after being put out.
For the record, this series as well as Travis Pastrana's Nitro Rallycross series completely replaced ICE cars with these EVs.
This isn't a support or exhibition race; this IS the main rallycross series; an EV one.
I don't think this was the right move; hence why I chose to stop watching altogether when it went all EV.
Which is really sad because it was a lot of fun before hand.
You're not alone.

It's just an uncool sound, whines and beeps suck
The deep rumble of an engine is half the visceral appeal for the crowd.
