It was a rule because Reddit has stupid rules against linking public social media posts. I'm not sure it's enforced here because it doesn't have to be.
I don't think the rule is so stupid, at least when we're dealing with literal whos on the internet. if your post has any kind of reach then it's worth posting here, but if it's just some faggot with 10 followers and five retweets, and they do not hold any position of significance, then it should not be worth the time of day
I agree that posting things from nobodies as if it's a popular opinion is dumb, but Reddit's banning of even showing someone's username if they are a nobody is why the rule exists in the first place.
