It's not even just books, if they hate somebody or something in general it's usually because they were told to through a media article. You can see this if you're patient enough when you look at comments pages or reddit when they're chatting amongst themselves about somebody like Trump.

That's a pretty good point. It's pretty interesting that right wingers aren't as bad as this, because a lot of them are headline-skimmers as well (like boomercons).
