So... exactly the situation you're trying to avoid in the UK? Don't cross the regime or you get de-banked? At least Charles isn't tossing people out windows yet.
At least Charles isn't tossing people out windows yet.
I find this 'window-tossing' nonsense to be quite interesting. Apparently, the UK is much better than Russia, because while it arrests more people for comments on social media, allows the rape of teenage girls if the perpetrators are Pakistanis, and butchers hundreds of thousands of people around the world in US-sponsored wars, no one has died because... horrors of horrors... of being pushed out of a window.
Russia's 'don't fuck with us' policy: so long as you don't siphon money from Russia to somewhere else and don't attempt to oppose military policy, you're fine.
The UK's 'don't fuck with us' policy: suck the feminine dick, don't bring up our failed immigration policy, don't bring up the grooming gangs, don't publicly run on a campaign that highlights how we are selling our native population out to foreigners who are here for the free gibs. This may change depending on our feelings.
I wouldn't want to live in Russia either, but I think while they are more openly violent or authoritarian than the West, they are less totalitarian. Ironically that might be possible because of the violence. People naturally don't cross the authority on small things if they can help it. In the West we still have the notion and trappings of liberty, so we still freely express wrongthink and are surprised when we get arrested for it.
The fact Europe and North America are heading to be on par with China on financial coercion says most of my argument for me.
Therefore russia... ?
They unironically are the least likely to fuck with you so long as you don't fuck with them option.
There's oligarchs today alive and well because they chose the 'don't fuck with' when Putin took over, the rest well... siberia is a big place...
Essentially Russia is the modern day robber baron and the West is the virtuous do gooder hurting us 'for our own good'
