Sometimes I bring up the "Bombing of Sterling Hall", where Communists blew up a Chemistry building at UW Madison, and killed a black janitor. They fled to Canada where they were basically allowed to live freely, without being extradited for years, because the US recently re-added the death penalty; and Canada refused to allow them to be extradited with the threat of execution.

Eventually, the primary conspirator was finally extradited, and served 7 years (he was the most severely punished). He then spent the rest of his days back in Madison, selling hot dogs out of a food truck. He was never apologetic for even one moment, and said he'd do it again if given the opportunity.
