Should we make this a big thing next year?

I actually think we need to start making culture instead of being reactionaries. I want us to have actual holidays that we can build traditions off of.

We could try and set-up some sort of community celebration for that next year, maybe with daily or weekly posts regarding the specific efforts of sacrificial effort. Doesn't even have to be for the military, but maybe for anyone who distinguished some kind of exceptional heroism or sacrifice to save the lives of their community, or as a result of official duty of care.
Child Sexual Assault Survivors month is a good idea. The Pride month in the UK is different from the one in the US, so we could use the UK's pride month for that (or vice versa). Perhaps each week we could post stories from de-transitioners, victims of John Money's experiments, or any sort of survivors of institutionally supported sex crimes (like testimony from the Epstein trial).
While that's not a bad idea, I find it somewhat in bad taste (and always have) to celebrate a holiday for victims. Simply because the vast majority of actual victims, instead of just exaggerators and outright liars, often want to avoid spotlighting it and forcing them to be named and held up might only make it worse for them.
That's just my personal opinion though, so I'm not against being convinced out of it.
South Park had an entire episode about exactly that.
Yeah I was thinking of that as I said it, but I couldn't come up with the actual name or thing they were focusing on in it.
It was the episode where Butters was getting bullied by his own grandmother, and Stan or Kyle wanted to make a whole big deal of it to "support" Butters, but it only made things worse for him.
One of the show's genuine best episodes, that will still hit hard long after current day politics are forgotten.
Alfred had an interesting idea. What about a dedicated Geek or Gaming Month for celebrating our favorite lore, history, or geek/gamer cultural artifacts?
Perhaps we could be subversive and celebrate it as Geek Pride
Off topic: As fishyfaggot is calling you a pedo for banning him now, could you tell me what specifically got fishyfaggot banned for pedophilia?
Fishy's drivel implies he got banned for spouting NOMAP bullshit that he is too stupid to apologize for.
I have a copypasta now to explain:
I permanently banned him well over a year ago as a Border Control action, for having basically spent no time in the sub, except to argue that attraction to children wasn't immoral.
As far as I knew, the issue stopped there.
Then one day, prompted by literally no one, AbleistSL [you] went on some sort of insane rant-post about how this dude was harassing him, and sick of being defamed as a pedophile because something about loli.
I have no idea what that has to do with me, or this forum, but I had to temporarily ban AbleistSL [you] for telling multiple users to kill themselves. ArchRespawnsAgain, happened to mention that this FishyMan420 tends to be a problem on multiple forums.
For some reason, that attracted the attention of this FishyMan420 individual who then wanted me to unban him. I would not, and I will continue not to do that. No one has to be a member of this forum, and it's actually, not that big of a deal not to hang out here.
He then called me a pedophile and made a post about me on a private forum that he is the only moderator of, and one of 2 members.
[I accidentally thought you were Ahaus667 for some reason. I think all the users beginning with A confused me]
That'd be fun. Though, I always miss the new stickies when they go up because they don't really jump out that well on the nightskin on .win. But that might just be a personal issue.
That sounds like a good idea. We need a new videogame holiday since E3 is no more as well.
Perhaps a month of geek. Every day celebrates a different geeky hobby. I'm really shocked at the fan made movies made by WH40K fans. How did a geek rise up and change the world? The MIT hackers, the Atari craziness, engineers who designed arcade games before videogames, and many more. If others want to make a big day or hoopla, then so can we. If they complain we already have holidays like Pi Day, point out we need more representation.
Actually, we could tie it up to the Summer Sales and call it a "Month of Gaming"
Ooooh... Gamer Pride. Hmmmmm. Subversive, I like it!
Not Gaymer.
I like it. Convention season is around this time as well.
Well, that one's already taken.
