Non-binary is about out trooning the troons, with a bonus of not having to mutilate yourself. You're correct that it's about wanting to be special, but it's worth emphasizing that it's about one upping the troons as the most special person in the room. That's how it started anyway. Now it's mostly an easy to get woke street cred without having to do anything. The diseased "logic" underpinning non-binary is a direct extension of troonery as well. Troonery makes the false claim that a man can become a woman and vice versa, but it still implicitly recognizes that man and woman are the only two genders that exist. Non-binary doubles down on the retardation by falsely claiming that gender exists outside of that binary, hence the term non-binary and idiotic concepts like the gender spectrum that mean nothing in practice. I often half joke about gender becoming a multi-dimensional space in the future, but I'd only be half shocked if the left made the gender hypercube a thing.
