Because in order for you to get an in with these publishers you have to start at these major news sites. Once you start there then that’s it. You’re already controlled.
Are the more reason why mainstream sites like Kotaku or Polygon needed to die. We need more sites that are align with our views and not controlled opposition. Giving legitimacy to the approved mainstream options is the reason why we can not fight back effectively for the reason you just mention.
I agree 100%. What makes me not optimistic about the outcome though is that when the likes of Kotaku and Polygon dies off game publishers will refuse to work with anyone else because we’re the type of people that won’t bend the knee to these publishers. We won’t look a bit more favorably at games because of a threat that publishers will refuse to send review copies. Real gamers do deserve a voice, but game publishers don’t think that same way.
