But this time they're been "enhanced" with regular DLC, season passes, microtransactions and put behind a paywall that you need to remain subscribed to in order to buy access to said game that you will never own and will be banned from (no refunds) if you say a mean word or be critical about its mandatory anti-cheat system in a review.
And the first to fourth instalments have been removed from sale.
BotW and Tears are both great games. You have to think of it from a kid's perspective of having this massive world to lose yourself. Along with having physics-based intuitive ways to solve puzzles increasing that immersion.
Yes they are "repetitive" but if the gameplay is something you like that isn't a problem.
Pokémon is on the 9th generation now, which is numbers 25 and 26 of the mainline games if you count each pair as two separate games, but you probably shouldn’t. Of course, that doesn’t count Colosseum, Gale of Darkness, and Legends: Arceus, which probably should be counted. It’s probably most honest to call each generation 1.5 games, except gen V which would have 2 and gen VI, which would only have 1.
The various spinoffs where the game formula is significantly altered (Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, Snap, various puzzle games) probably add another 20 minimum.
We’re talking about iterations on a franchise as a marker for staleness. It would be ridiculous to count a pair of Pokémon games as two separate entries when that’s the reason for counting them.
Zelda is just applying the same story line formula, changing bits here and there, add a few new mechanics and they have a new installment. While Nintendo has their problems they are still releasing stuff that works and fans love. Western publishers on the other hand seem to enjoy alienating their fan bases with politics and shouting racism whenever their "diverse game" is being outsold by an indie dev in their attic.
The year is 2024 and all those games did just come out again but like the 5th installment of them and they still aren't as good as the original.

Soon to be "reimagined" for a even more modern audience. At which point there'll be nothing recognizable about them but the name.
Off the top of my head the following already exist:
Farcry 6
Halo 7
Hitman I honestly have no idea but far more then 5
Zelda again too many to count
Pokemon 30???

Oblivion "Gameplay"
Jump around to level your acrobatics.
Punch the wall to level your brawl.
Is that not how you do it IRL?

Separate purchase = separate game
