I'm posting this since there was a lot of discussion of the anime viking show Vinland Saga.
The Last Kingdom is a damn good show. It's based on books. It's not nonsensical drama like the "Vikings" show.
It is not told primarily from the perspective of the Vikings. The Vikings are primarily the antagonists, but sometimes things flip in terms of shifting alliances.
It's deep, well-written, & more realistic than the alternatives.
lol, 'The Last Kingdom' has stilted acting, a pretty boy male model as Viking-age action-star and suffers from 'women-are-just-as-capable-as-men' feminism.
That blond witch in the fourth (?) season was also pathetic.
I stopped watching mid season 3, a good story and setting can only carry bad actors so far.
Who they don't bother to age up while they have a four-year-old grow up enough to have children of her own.
The dialogue was exceedingly mediocre.
It passed the time, in the same way an occasionally dull livestream passes the time.
I didn't get past the first season. The leading actor is terrible and he looks like a kid.
I can dig the "sword sheath on back" thing in fantasy environments, but in a series that claims to be historical it just looks silly.
strong "2/10 Would Not Bang" energy
Are you really stooping to just shouting incel at people who disagree with you?
No one gives a fuck who you want to bang, not even your alleged shortstack gold-digger.
And they're right about the bad acting.
The books are something I can highly recommend. I own all of the series, and on top of these I'd also recommend the Sharpe's series by the same author, Bernard Cornwell.
Thanks! I’ve heard it was good. I will look for the books as well
I saw part of that.
I couldn't get past the main character's sword. The thing looks ridiculously poorly balanced and stupid compared to the historically plausible weapons everyone else is using.
