The UK does not get a veto on one American company buying another American company. If the UK tries to pull that shit on a merger the US govt approves, then the US can and should retaliate against UK companies until the UK government pulls its head out of its ass & respects its limited jurisdiction.
Shows that the market thinks Activision is trash & MSFT shouldn't be wasting money on it. I agree.
I don't understand why they get a vote either. They have no jurisdiction here, unless they're threatening to bar MS products from their company if the deal goes through.
Microsoft has local subsidiaries in almost every major country.
By blocking other mergers? Your terms are acceptable.
A government that is persecuting an Australian subject by having him arrested in the UK and Sweden for supposedly violating American laws has no business talking about 'limited jurisdiction'.
Then again, you're just persecuting him throughout your own imperial domains, so I guess that's fair.
Presumably the UK would enforce its "block" of the merger by banning Microsoft from doing business in the UK. Retaliation would mean banning British companies from doing business in the USA. This is a standard trade war. The UK is way out of line.
What's next, is the mayor of London going to indict Donald Trump? Because apparently the bongs don't know what the word "jurisdiction" means.
Your whataboutism game is weak. The local jurisdictions he gets arrested in have to consent to US jurisdiction and turn him over. The UK regulator didn't ask the US permission to step in and regulate US businesses.
By that standard, you can't indict Assange. Nor the Russians who were arrested in Argentina for internet piracy.
"Whataboutism" is the word they fed to the world's dumbest people to bar inquiry into whether they and their side abide by the standards they impose on others: GG
You're not among the world's dumbest people, but you pretend to not understand some stuff that you do.
What a weak excuse. As if those local jurisdictions are in any way independent. Sweden and the UK are vassals. And by your standard, if Garland agrees to extradite Trump, the UK could indict him in London.
So the way extradition works, I'll say again, is the arresting country has to consent. Canada arrested that top CCP lady from huawei or something and then never actually extradited her.
It's commie 101 and it gets tiresome to deal with. It's obviously bad faith & propagandistic. I don't care if you call the US a hypocrite. Stop trying to change the subject with commie tactics. My point about UK jurisdiction stands. "but muh USA bad". We get it. We don't care. I can't have a conversation with you anymore bc of shit like this.
Glenn Greenwald can be a real dumb faggot sometimes. Just because he believes in free speech doesn't give him a pass on being a libtard on lots of other things.
It wouldn't be up to Garland, it would be up to Garland + the President + a district court judge + the court of appeals + the supreme court. If ALL of them agreed to extradite Trump, then yes, that's what would happen.
Microsoft is up because of earnings, not because the deal died.
