Humans still have instincts and those instincts favor taller people. This surgery has very real social benefits.
If a guy is under say 5'5 at 18 and growth plates are fused then yeah it makes sense.
But other than that destroying your athletic ability isn't worth it.
Men do it too. Even in a male space, men who are taller get more respect.
