As much as I dislike Amazon, I am an Audible junkie and having free books like the Screwtape Letters (C.S. Lewis) is a big plus. Looking for something interesting to pick up on. I generally like horror but also have probably 70 plus books on philosophy/ history like Sowell, Jung, Friedman, Rothbard, etc. On a side note, for fellow audiobook fans, RC Bray is doing Starship Troopers with a May slotted release.

RC Bray reads all the Galaxy's Edge books, and they have nothing to do with fucking Disney Star Wars bullshit.
They're sci-fi but if you like Brays work they're also just good books.
First two of the series are free with audible, downloaded and added to the list! Thank you
Galaxys Edge is Anspach and Coles best work, their other series are...just okay.
The Forgotten Ruin series where the earth becomes a weird fantasy world thousands of years into the future from a nano machine virus from the Chinese and the US Rangers go into a time portal into the future to help rebuild America and end up fighting orcs and shit is just a little too far out there for me. Not sure how a nano machine virus could create fuckin magic but whatever.
Hard for me ro recommend you since I'm not big on horror or philosophy.
But if you're interested in non fiction, you might wanna check out the story of Douglas Mawson. It's as close to horror that non fiction might ever get. I don't wanna do a spoiler fest here's but let's suffice to say that it's one of the most hellish polar survival stories ever.
Look for either "Alone in the Ice" or "Mawson's Will", both are good books (the former being more successful). You might find the book Mawson himself wrote (Home of the Blizzard) but it's amazingly low key and underwhelming.
You gotta let somebody else tell his story, because Mawson tended to downplay everything in his book, after all, that's what gentlemen did, you didn't wanna be bragging.
If you're looking for fiction, I'm currently reading Patrick O'Brians Aubrey-Maturin series and it's been pretty fun. It takes a while for it to pick up steam, and the latter books are not as good. But between books 3 and 10 it's really good reading.
I’m always up for a good non-fiction history! Thank you
With horror there are the classics like Dracula or Frankenstein. Or dive into Stephen King. Screwtape Letters is great. You read Mere Christianity?
I havent gotten that far into non-narnia CS Lewis but the Screwtape Letters definitely show a different level of depth and wit to his writing
Got some good horror recommendations? I heard shining, usually the ones I listen to are litrpgs cuz I have a weird taste. Horror I wouldn't mind checking out. I did like the lovecraft collection also but I generally love all things lovecraft and most probably know it.
Can't beat James Herbert for horror imo. Although idk about listening as audiobooks, since his books tend to have explicit sex too. Maybe if the narrator is female I could be persuaded.
The elementals and gilded needles by Malcolm McDowell are solid, actual gothic horror. Hell House is a solid story. The stand with Stephen king. False Memory, Seize the night and fear nothing from Koontz are all excellent.
If you want to go deep, Notes From the Underground by Dostoyevsky, Crime and Punishment, or The Brothers Karamazov. I recommend the order in which I mentioned them.
Discworld. Discworld. Discworld. Discworld. Discworld.
I have the entire saga on audio book 100% recommend. It's the only reason I ever got audible. FOR the free book and i spend some 40 months getting every one, converted them to mp3 and then cancelled my sub.
Brave New World is a extremely interesting dystopian science fiction/social commentary of that is your sort of thing. If you like philosophy, I think you would find it interesting. Aldous Huxley's commentary on the book's themes, A Brave New World revisited, is also great, and contains lots of interesting philosophy.
If you like horror, the original dracula and frankenstein books hold up great. Very creepy, and the themes are interesting even today.
