Anyone who looks objectively at those things Trump accomplished during his term and at his efforts to follow through on his campaign platform cannot help but admit he was a comparatively good President--which is a left-handed compliment, but he's the best for the US if you look at the likely nominees.
As a lame duck he would have zero reason to defer to any of the alphabet agencies.
The biggest problem with a 2nd Trump term will be his inability to gather any sort of loyal cabinet members.
Of course, in the unlikely event this latest persecution can convict him of a felony, all bets are off. I would not be surprised if he's convicted and his appeals run through the election he'd be disqualified from.
I think they'll kill Trump before they let him back in office. (But with how easily they can inject ballots into the election system via cities like Atlanta and Philadelphia, that won't be necessary.)

The only way to disqualify Trump from the election is if we find his real birth certificate from another country and he had non-citizen parents, or science figures out how to de-age him to under 35 years old.
Yes. He could be impeached and removed right away by Congress though.
It could be a constitutional crisis with John Roberts refusing to swear him in, but constitutionally you only have to be 35 and a citizen and live in the country for 14 years.
edit: there is the 14th Amendment that says nobody "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" can be President. This is why they were desperate to call Jan 6 an insurrection and tie Trump to it even though it wasn't an insurrection and encouraging people to "peacefully and patriotically" protest isn't engaging in rebellion.

I was unaware of this. No wonder they were putting all their eggs in the "insurrection" basket.
We need Trump to finish what he started.

They kill Trump and that sets off civil war.

Neither of which is too likely.
Can a convicted felon hold the office of President?

Pathetic and desperate.
