Yes. I think the left have, broadly speaking, typically used political violence offensively while the right have used political violence defensively. Leftists ideology is steeped in Critical Theory, which is no less than a deliberate assault on all of our evolved societal norms. Right wing ideology is framed as reactionary to that assault, which implies defensive action.
