That seems overly harsh. I think he’s a competent actor. He was a good casting choice for Thor regardless of his willingness to do fanservice.
He might be a shit person IRL—I haven’t heard anything about him one way or another, but just by averages, most Hollywood folks are—but he is good in the role for reasons beyond “will take clothes off.”
To be honest, I’m suspicious of anyone who so much as gets one major role—for example, despite all the talk about how Chris Pratt is supposedly based, I still don’t believe it because they allow him to be a leading man in multiple franchises—but if I’m being too cynical, that would be a nice surprise.

He's not "Hollywood folk" - he's an Australian soap opera actor who from what I've heard keeps his distance from Hollywood.
