Scapegoat for their ever diminishing lifestyle that they wished for in journalism. Even back then, game “journalists” were losing prevalence thanks to YouTube and Twitch streamers. This made even them less likely to reach their true goal: working for the big media companies. GamerGate just made it more obvious that their dreams are completely crushed.
