They're making a movie? And Bri Larson really? You'd need at least some female MMA or even bodybuilder build to pull it of with how they looked in that game.
There are female Gears in the lore, usually barren women who didn't produce a child in the mandatory breeding camps. It wasn't until Gears 3 that they became more prominent, mainly because humanity was on its last legs and government no longer exists.
Larson or no, there's absolutely no way they can make a good Gears movie in 2023. Even in 2006, it would have been difficult. Gears came out at just the right time, and lasted long enough, that you can watch the West lose the last embers of primal masculinity as the series progressed. What started as an indulgence in unbound violence and fraternity turned into just another personal drama for women.
If you wanted to make Gears in its original spirit, you have to start with the rule that no woman will so much as raise her voice at a man, let alone hold a weapon. In the primal spirit Gears originally drew on, violence is solely in the world of men. Since that's never going to happen, it's doomed before you've put the first word of the script to paper.
Gears 1 offered such a cool story premise and they just immediately made it dumb. The worst case scenario here is the action scenes are passable and I’ve got to suffer through Netflix’ BS to watch them.
she wears armor from Gears of War by Epic Games. While this is not an actual mock-up from Netflix’s upcoming film adaptation of the game, it very well could be. The actress may just be in the market for something “grittier” and less family-friendly than playing Marvel’s famous superhero.
How long has that not been true now? 10 years?
To think that Brie Larson could be involved in a Gears of War project is not entirely outlandish, as the actress has already worked with Epic Games before.
I'd sooner believe they'd get The Rock because he played The Foundation.
Last year, she provided both the look and the voice for the character of Paradigm in Fortnite, which was also developed by the studio.
Her character died creating the new island at the end of Chapter 3, because when the AI lists off the people it believes are on the island on your first drop of Chapter 4, Paradigm isn't listed.
I have to be honest, it made me irrationally happy to find that out. Fucking colonizer for the More Feminine Way can fuck off.

Wait was that after 3 as I only looked up cutscenes for it (for the Dom memes) when I was younger. Heard it went downhill after 3.
Marcus's hands absolutely dwarfs Anya's in the ending of 3.
The spin off xcom like game was fun
That's true, I got GamePass for that.
That's not who I'd have picked, but I guess it is what it is.
As an aside, I still remember getting unreasonably angry over Gears 2.
"C'mon Dom, we gotta get the queen!" The whole game, I kept hearing that they gotta chase down the queen and take her out.
They're finally in the same room with her and they let her leave.
I turned the game off and haven't touched the series since.
I try to never think about Brie Larson
I’ve never played the game due to being a Sony guy til I had to get Xbox live (have to get Starfield and ES6) are there female soldiers in the game?

Ok so it makes sense in the game and wasn’t an attempt to inject girl power it sounds like
Unfortunately.

Really looking forward to not watching this one either.
Gears of War was lost a while ago. Game number 3 or 4 I think. This is just the victory lap.
