Dr Tim Stevens, director of the Cyber Security Research Group at King's College London, said deepfake AI had potential to undermine democratic institutions and national security.

People have been producing photorealistic drawings indistinguishable from reality for a century, if not longer. On top of that, Photoshop has enabled placing anyone you want in any situation you want for decades. Even NPCs don't take still images as absolute truth any more. Haven't for generations. Deepfake technology just lets us do what we already could, but slightly faster. Not a threat.
