It may be Open Source, but not FOSS. google still controls and dictates Chromium's path forward. To their benefit. The repo is even on googlesource. They may not have created the forks, but as long as those forks are beholden to the upstream updates, they're still playing by googles tune.
I think the browser monopoly is worse. Can you think of a non-chromium/firefox browser? at all? That doesn't mean I don't want them Not to go after Android after browsers though. google seriously needs to be taken down..several rungs. Not only because they're big, but because they're woke, they're highly privacy-invasive, they're using old IE's Embrace, Extend, Extuingish, and other highly shady practices.
Didn’t google abuse their ad monopoly to force zerohedge to ban comments?
I'll assume this is for show until the hammer actually drops
It's a good start.. Next is their Browser monopoly I hope.
App marketplace surely?
Wouldn't know, I don't use smartphones, but yeah. Android is google, though they have a bit of a rival in Apple..not that they're any better at all.
What browser monopoly?
google Chromium browsers. Chrome, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi, Edge, Yandex, SRWare Iron, Sleipner, Epic, Naver, Qute, Dissenter, etc.

Even Firefox Quantum contains an unholy amount of google browser tech.
AFAIK, Chromium is open source. While it might be made by Google, they don't own those browsers.
