The series is from the Before Time and not written by a native English speaker so you can go in with the assumption that he's writing a story that happens to have women in it and not a Woman Story.
Eh, it has powerful female sorceresses and the very, very, very occasional warrior, but they are never portrayed in an idyllic light and are just as flawed as anyone else in the series, running the gamut between good-hearted but prone to moral ambiguity to completely hateful scum and everything in between. Even Ciri takes a turn to the dark side for a while and suffers a lot of crushing defeats along the way.
This has made me plan to go to my local bookstore in the next few weeks to get the books. If not there I’ll order online.
The books are pretty good but there is some proto-woke in them in my opinion. If you can overlook that they’re enjoyable and uniquely written.
They are oldish and Polish, so its probably less woke and actually just organic parts of the story.
Or inserted during translation, that happens a lot more than it should.
thanks for the heads up
Mostly just girl power stuff. It’s not super prevalent but it is pretty jarring at times.
