The problem with AP is that they sell their articles to lots of small publications across the globe. Their stories have a far reach due to "Local" outlets filling up space in their region or hobby specific news products.
This is a major part of the corruption in media bias.
The problem with AP and Reuters is that they are as bad as NPR and MSNBC, but people treat them like an objective source of professionalism. Their credibility is undue and unearned. It's very much the same problem with the BBC.
The establishment has been on damage control and reduction ever since Elon took over Twitter.
Simply having ONE social media that is mainstream not under their full control has shown their power structure is not a web but a house of cards and removing one has already made it unstable with every other institution having to be blatant in their bias to compensate.
In fairness, Twitter had disproportionate power in creating narrative (which was why the establishment was pushing it in the first place). A lot of people get news from Facebook, but Twitter always gets eyeballs for hot-takes.
In the realm of the media, you rarely see news stories about what someone posted to social media unless that social media is Twitter, Facebook, then Reddit, and in that order.
They lost a top level position of control. Facebook has too many Trump boomers on it to make it worth anything but monitoring and subversion. But Twitter set the agenda for the Left. Losing control of that is a real problem.
I'm enjoying the way the checkies are trying to get smug and say "actually Twitter was doing a lot against child porn and Elon is tearing it all down", but Elon is the one person powerful enough right now to possibly counter them.
They certainly did focus on "hate speech", because that's the modern tyrant's bludgeon of choice. They've grouped CP in there because that's the one people care about, even though Trust and Safety were all but aiding and abetting the distribution of CP.
No, they absolutely were aiding and abetting CP distribution. They refused to take down blackmail of the rape of a then 14yo boy until the feds stepped in.

Yep that's the point. Way more subversive and effective than Voice of America. :)
Not that it would matter here but I wonder if all the publications are equally liable for defamation claims.

Yah almost every news story originates on Twitter. That's where the journalists all hang out.

This was Yoel Roth in his own words.
The real question is how many victims of his behavior are there?
Note the cute trick AP pull:

That's aiding and abetting.
Eh, I'm British, I'm required to be a bit circumspect about making accusations like that without a conviction to wave around in my defence.
They focused on ensuring that it wouldn't be focused on.
