I go by the saying 'The enemy of my enemy might not be a friend, but I'll let him burn my enemy down while I prepare artillery'
If Epic wants to take on Apple, that's great even if I dislike both companies, Apple is the bigger target that if it can be made to bleed will MASSIVELY help us in the long run. Elon jumping on board to provide data on the twitter side to help the lawsuit and the Chinese protests probably stopping Foxconn production AND reports their workers are trying to leak IPhone data and schematics, damn it looks like Apple picked a fight they weren't ready for.
Shame Google aren't looking to get involved, seems they might have noped out and decided to disappear into the hedge like Homer while the firestorm is brewing.
No I don't mean they are going to join Epic in the suit, It looks like the employee level would love to do the same as Apple but something has the leadership level want to keep Google out of this and just keep it business as usual.
My guess, they already know all the communications they had with Twitter to coordinate censorship and prefer not stir the bees nest right now.
Absolutely true. Google once approached Tencent to buy their stake in an effort to try and tank the company from the inside. They also tried to bribe AV companies to say that sideloading apps is dangerous and shouldn't be done, specifically to target Epic.
Saying that, pushing Tim Sweeney around is a bit different from pushing around Elon Musk.
Or one of those fake AVs that used to be a thing in the early 2010s. You know the type, the ones that say you have 100 viruses and you have to activate now.
Pretty sure there are enough woke tokes at google too. Difference is that on Android using a different store is trivial, and you can load apps directly as well. Had to do that for Telegram since the google version is gimped.
Epic is a little under half owned by the CCP. The majority stake is held by Tim Sweeney personally, and he himself is a happy and willing servant of the CCP.
Epic has appealed but the odds of winning that appeal are extremely low. The trial court judge was following the law and made the correct ruling, after all.
Apple doesn't have a monopoly over the cell phone market. Apple users are there because they want to be there. Companies like Epic have to follow Apple's rules and pay Apple's tax.
The Epic lawsuit isn't about Apple, it's about establishing a precedent which would break the power of Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, and other "platform" owners, all of which are American and Japanese, and all of which block virtually all Chinese "video games" out of their marketplaces, with rare exceptions.
The CCP knows it cannot make a competing video game console, yet it is very heavily invested in the video game industry through Tencent buying everything that isn't nailed down. So the strategy is to break the power of the platforms so that the CCP can flood the West with Chinese trash games.
I like Elon but to some extent he is a compromised agent of the Chinese Communist Party.
Tesla's Chinese gigafactory is 25% or more of all of Tesla's production, and the CCP can shut it down at any time on a whim. Thus, the CCP has its gnarled hand firmly around Elon's balls, hence why he tweeted some bullshit about Taiwan surrendering its sovereignty to the CCP.
Context : This video was the announcement of Epic Games' lawsuit, played on log-in to Fortnite itself and followed by a campaign #FreeFortnite to make Apple back down through people threatening to boycott.
I'm not sure how to feel about this. Epic has been sliding downhill, now collabing with Brie Larson...are they the best people to stand with for free speech?
Will Twitter join Epic's organization and finally trigger the mass delist from the App Store that it was created to do?

The best counter to a bad idea is a good idea. The idea that bad ideas should be banned is itself a bad idea and, if accepted, would have to be banned.
How can someone who thinks like this, preside over a company that constantly invites enemy celebrities and brands to be on their platform?

Google wants to do the exact same thing as Apple. They're not going to weigh in on behalf of Epic if that's what you're saying.

I would say that Tim Sweeney refused to be pushed around. He sued and let them ban Fortnite from the app store, right?

mmMMMMMmmm... Tasty F-Droid
Is Epic not chinese owned?
Tencent has like the largest non-controlling stake possible. So yes but not exclusively so.
It's shrunk after Epic did some funding rounds, their stake is now around 40% rather than the original 49%.
Epic is a little under half owned by the CCP. The majority stake is held by Tim Sweeney personally, and he himself is a happy and willing servant of the CCP.
Didn't Epic already lose that lawsuit?
Yes Epic already lost.

It's still going on.
Gamers: Absolutely who Elon should be reaching to for support.
He should honestly be reaching out to sperg-chan and asking them to be a personal army.

Force Apple to become Open Platform. That'll be glorious

It makes me smile when I watch clips of Fortnite players throwing tomatoes at blm propaganda.
