a long time ago, Marxists decided they wanted to take over society
to take over society, Marxists decided they needed to destroy the dominant culture. enter Cultural Marxism. enter Critical Theory and its progeny CRT.
Marxists scheme and plan on how to win from a position of disadvantage. They OBSESS over it. I know because I infiltrated leftist groups when I was in college and just after law school. I listened to lib activists being taught shit like "you can win as long as your faction is not the absolute weakest. All you need to do is form coalitions with other factions to destroy the strongest, and then keep on down the list until you're on top" etc. It turns out losers and their acolytes have a lot of free time to obsess over fucking up society.
Core to Cultural Marxism is to mobilize the disaffected. this means to rally the losers, the freaks, the weirdos, the outcasts, etc. Literally everyone who isn't a winner under the dominant culture is targeted for recruitment.
losers and failures really hate capitalism and meritocracy because it doesn't benefit them the most. they tend to feel extreme jealousy of their betters. Marxists exploit and use this.
this is why Democrats hate meritocracy and try to eliminate it. leftist ideology is ingrained with this notion that you need to tear down the winners in order so that the losers don't feel like failures anymore. this pervades the leftist mind, and is also why fat women are help up as goddesses who should be revered, and why objectively beautiful people need to be torn down.
postmodernism is just an intelleckschual fart sniffing pretentious way of giving losers a cope so the losers will become devotees of marxist academics.
This is a rather shallow analysis. In woke culture, plenty of people, behaviours and values are considered "objectively" better than others. Women are better than men. Black people are better than white people. Trans are better than non-trans. Muslims are better than Christians.
Yes, wokeness no longer considers traditional values as being "good" (these values have been "flattened" if you like), but it hasn't removed "meritocracy" per se, it has just redefined what is meritorious.
This is why recognizing these values are anti-White, anti-Male, and anti-Christian is important, rather than more generic "Raaaaaycist" or whatever else.
Wokal Distance is generically centrist. That's great if you're a normie who is just sick of "Woke" and needs some kind of intellectual foundation to resist wokeness and understand why the 1990s were better than today.
Not so great if you understand that all the problems we see in 2022 are direct consequences of the same ideology that was present in the 1990s, just more obviously and explicitly.
I put him in the same category as Lindsay in that he's great at summarizing and putting the goals, means, and practices of the wokeists into understandable terms while also being normie friendly.
Fantastic at getting people in the door but annoyingly, as with Lindsay, he won't go one step further and admit the problems we face today are a direct result of liberalism, classical liberalism, whatever you want to call it. A trifle because we already have others who do realize that and are writing and speaking about it so I'm not too upset over the centrism at the end of the day.
Yes, I think both serve there purpose, but it'd be nice if the people who were in this kind of centrist position weren't desperate to countersignal people to the right.
Wokal Distance is pretty great. I haven't read his substack much but I've seen a few of his interviews. I'd particularly recommend the ones he did on Benjamin Boyce's Youtube channel with James Lindsay.

postmodernism boils down to "nobody las legitimate authority therefore i shouldnt be lynched for fucking kids"
all of them are pedos

An interesting thought. The opposite of meritocracy.
Is that substack worth subscribing to?

this is not even true. I've seen women who are dutiful to her husband and children, get harassed by feminists
