Archives don't really work on Insta, but here's the pic: https://archive.ph/EQKEY
A man just stopped me to ask if I’m a car mechanic. My first thought was “oh no does he need jumper cables?”. Then I realized it’s because I’m wearing my coveralls. I said, “No, these are my eatin’ pants, can’t fit in my skinny jeans no more”. He laughs without detecting any sarcasm. I’m pretty sure this is the same guy that wants you to name three songs of the band shirt you’re wearing, from the concert you went to, but as a girl you clearly couldn’t have loved. Just another day being a woman justifying your existence. #mansplaining #nofilter
So in other words she was dressed in coveralls, a guy made a joke based on that then laughed at her joke reply. Then ???, proving he clearly is a horrible sexist.
It would be foolish not to assume a women stuck on the side of the road can't fix her car. Most men can't even fix their own cars anymore, and women as a group haven't made any progress on that front since the car was invented.
Well even if you do have the the technical knowledge on fixing your car on the side of the road (man or women) there is a high chance you don’t have the tools or parts to fix it outside of swapping out a spare tire. And even then having someone there either spotting traffic or an extra set of hands could be nice. The world can’t get any nicer if people are constantly rude to the nice people just trying to help
I've probably seen 100 videos of cars on the side of the road, and the passengers standing around it, getting absolutely smashed at full speed. That's not the place to do auto repairs.
Both lack of interest from men in fixing their own cars and new car designs being totally hostile towards the shadetree mechanic.
Oh, hi, you want to change your spark plugs? Front three are a 15 minute job. Back three require you to disassemble the entire engine. Good luck!
"Just buy a new car, bro, it'll get better gas mileage anyway"
Fuck spark plugs. Changing the BATTERY requires a computer with an encryption private key, or the car's computer goes nuts forever
Second time I have ever heard the term shadetree mechanic within a few days of the first
She must be very insecure in her mechanical abilities to feel attacked by a non-attack. I worked with an incompetent female electrical engineer who was the same way, nobody said she sucked at her job, but she must have realized she sucked at her job
People who suck ass at what they do constantly project how amazing they are to everyone in the vicinity.
If they yell it loud it enough, nobody will know it's a lie.
For real. The only time I've worn coveralls or seen others wearing coveralls is when we're doing something potentially messy like painting a house or changing a car's oil.
