Those are the fucks whose innate stats are all 100+ while the regular plebs run around with a 10 as a high roll. They'd be the immortal, rich, impossibly accomplished bourgeois, not the poor downtrodden proletariat.
Hell, IIRC, wasn't the fact that the Elves were massive racist cunts a big point in Tolkein's books? They were basically gods amongst men, and saw the mortal races as, at best, cute woodland critters who scamper about and occasionally get eaten by wolves or goblins. And so it was a big thing for them to take part in the Fellowship and in opposing Sauron's armies?
