Surprised it's that high.
We already know it’s going to be scrubbed, IMDB apparently is purging all bad reviews already. What’s hilarious is they only got an 84% from critics, probably because not enough gay sex.
I saw The Quartering making noises about Elrond fancying men.
Give it time.
Just peeked at the IMDB ratings. It has a curiously high number of 10 star ratings.
Amazon owns IMDB, so it’s not a far stretch they’re “adjusting” reviews to eliminate “white supremacy” or whatever boogeyman they prefer.
They’ve been adjusting movie and TV reviews for awhile now. Plus they like to use a “weighted” average system to inflate bad ratings.
I think this started back with Amy Schumer's "comedy" special
(Reminder that she is Chuck Schumer's niece)
I remember her special caused the Netflix like percentage to disappear
She probably ate it
Well that’s good. Although I’m surprised it’s not lower.
If we’re being honest, the overwhelming majority of peoples exposure to Tolkien is through the Jackson movies. This was bad enough that the woke population were the only ones supporting it despite that.
That’s true. I watched the animated ones as a kid but the Jackson movies made me read the hobbit and I finally read LOTR trilogy earlier this year
I aged into the LOTR hype with Fellowship coming out when I was a tween but read the full book before before the trilogy was finished and Tom Bombabdil was my favorite character. My dad did the books on tape with me for the Hobbit before then and I still remember intently listening during the troll story and wanting to be like Beorn because being able to change into a giant bear was awesome. I read some of Harry Potter, but Tolkien, the Redwall series, and Greek mythology was soooo much better, especially as a young teen.
Who wrote the Redwall series? I know basic Greek Mythology but want to do more if a deep dive and I’ve read the Harry Potter books
You’re in luck! Stephen Fry has done an excellent trilogy on Greek myth, heroes, and the Iliad. Hopefully he does the odyssey as well, the audiobooks are all read by him as well. Redwall was done by Brian Jacques and is a brilliant series on medieval times but with animals portraying the characters.
Lawl. Some dude saying medusas are actually black weeman. And black weeman, thus are so beautiful, it caused men to turn into stone. Their logic was... dreadlocks mistaken as snakes lol.
And that's after they scrubbed the reviews as best they could.
