Those of us who simply like the culture and aren't that big on anime also get called weebs so we've learned to embrace it. I've always tried to avoid the more extreme ones though. Really any extroverted geeks rub me the wrong way.
lol I remember the first time I heard the term "anime" from an obese, creepy white guy who dressed weird. The people that watched it more or less scared me off of it. I never got into it.
I’m one of those people who likes anime but is repulsed by the weeb culture that surrounds it. I mostly keep my anime interest to myself because I don’t want to be lumped in with the rest of them.
Some anime have excellent storytelling that isn’t contaminated by western wokeness (yet), so it’s a breath of fresh air compared to the zombified corpses of western media that surround us on a daily basis here.
feelings of persecution (perceptions of being a victim of prejudice, aggression, and hostility from others)
To be fair, I don't doubt that the "diverse" crowd occupying Parisian streets would be prejudiced, aggressive and hostile to Asian tourists. Rather, they're probably the biggest reason someone might experience Paris Syndrome in the 1st place.
Oh Paris. There was always the rude, condescending Parisian stereotype.
But now the subway might as well be in Baghdad, beggars sitting everywhere, streets are full of "diverse" thieves who litterally piss in the streets and it smells horrible.
Of course don't forget the Islamic terrorist attacks that kill hundreds of people.
Cities "diversified" by mass migration are shitholes. The government had to surround the Eiffel tower with bullet-proof glass.

To be fair, there are also westaboos that want to live out their fantasies of living in "cool" cities like New York and LA.
Great cities while America was great, sure, but the modern representation of them in the media is just as much a lie as the anime portrayal of Japan.

The West is fucked.
