So things we need to hammer down. I believe we should do a movie every Saturday night for the live chat group and I will post a general discussion chat every Saturday night after the film(US -5). What we need to do is get a general idea of what time would be most convenient for anyone wanting to do live chat with the movie. Also, I believe we should do a theme every month. October is clearly going to be horror, but we can poll for themes each month and create a general yearly lineup based on those themes. Might as well do weekly showings because the time commitment is less and the ability to fit 4-5 movies in a genre gives more variety and appeal. So what we need to hammer down in this thread is time zones we will be basing the live view off and the September theme for movies+ recommendations!

Have a Cytube set up for the live view stream: https://cytu.be/r/KIA2MovieClub
will also post where to watch/ best way to find said movie for those who cant make the live view or want to watch on their own time.

September options: Kung-Fu, Workplace Comedies, Spaghetti Westerns, Anime.
Lets get this going!
You put euros on there but not Mountain Time kings. 😭
figured MT would be the lowest but what planning on making a generalized time based on central time zone depending on the ratio of eastern/pdt
Great idea. Movies along with books. How do we access the live chat? I appreciate you doing this.
We have a kia2 matrix chat which is like a Discord. Will track down the link for use as the live chat.
Cool. Sounds good.
I can trust you to pick movies that are good. Not ones that push THE MESSAGE. Lol

Do you mean UTC-5? Eastern Time?
Would a cytube or something similar be worthwhile? I'd volunteer to run it, but I'll probably only be around once a month.
Also, I want to put Kung Pow on the to-watch list.
I’m in utc-5. Cytube is an awesome idea for a video livestream. Will look into it, but at a base glance there are already multi movie stream groups up so I could do that as the Saturday night film group for KIA2. Kung fu movies should definitely be a month theme and Kung Pow is an excellent one, another that would go with that is Kung Fu Hustle!
just made a kia2 movie club cytube, excellent idea for a livestream! On a side note I hope you caught the Purdue/ Penn st game, told you it would be a banger!
both were awesome! tomorrow has some great games as well, Cincy/Arkansas, Georgia/ Oregon, OSU/ Notre Dame, and Utah/ Florida.
Honestly? They have the talent but I don't think the coach will be a Ryan Day turnover like OSU had. Brian Kelly was smart to leave for LSU, ND has been cursed ever since they took the NBC contract over a football division.
Oh and u/DomitiusOfMassilia you make my pants sticky
I'll just make your thread sticky instead. Don't want you to get monkeypox from fags like me.
Good idea, I read the books but I'm like half a book behind at this point....so it becomes more of a want to read list. Been good for book suggestions though.
No idea on genre that would be related to September. Most of what I watch in general falls into mindless thriller, sci-fi, war, or westerns but I'm far, far from a movie buff. On the plus side someone in my family wants to do a horror movie night when we hang out in person later this month, so maybe before October I'll actually have an idea about that genre. I've generally never liked horror movies, but knowing this person it will really be the most bloody and gorey movie marathon.
My plan for the movie club is to get known gems for discussion and sharing while finding hidden gems that have been overlooked. I wouldn’t call myself a “movie” buff either, unless it comes to horror/ Asian cinema/ anime. However there is a broad depth of cinematic knowledge in this forum and I believe it would be better for this community to find solid entertainment and create watchlists continuously.
Well, I think it would be apt to do Starship Troopers, since that was the first book too, I think.
So we could backfill the theme, and get some alliteration as well; September Sci-Fi Saturdays.
Would it be possible to decide on the movies a bit ahead of time so people who can't make the live chat are prepared to participate in the thread with everyone else?
I’m planning on having all movies for the month set up at the beginning of each month so everyone knows what to expect, simplifies the process too. Take the main theme and the 4-5 highest voted movies to make the schedule. Also will provide where to watch or “obtain” said movies.
