You're mostly right. It's actually Fabian Socialist doctrines that the West imposed on Japan and Germany in order to basically try and re-orient society to their liking that has badly mauled them. Even the East Germans got a better long-term deal because all the Soviets did was kill people, not try to subvert the entire society.
I genuinely think Keynsian Economics has a major responsibility in this, as it is the thing that is creating economic incentives to live in hive cities under major corporate oligarchies, and promoting social atomization; all of it for the benefit of corporatist power to mollify society along the path of Fabian Socialism. Japan is the very definition of what Keynsianism does in the long term to a society.
