Long term there is no question that there will be some kind of Matrix internet everyone Sword Art Onlines in, but that will probably be a long way off.
Linden Labs really screwed the pooch. They had years to optimize their client-server model. Then literally all they had to do was add a VR FPS mode to the client and they would be the next Ready Player One. What did they do instead? "Let's make a whole new VR game with curated worlds and limited freedom like the other hundred basic bitch NFT sandbox platforms out there."
Being HQ'ed in San Francisco, this should come as no surprise. Everything woke turns to shit.
We're in the middle of the long collapse. Eventually we'll either balkanize, become a puppet state of China, or reform as a literal American Empire. (and not a gayass economic empire this time)
I'm fairly certain EA wants to have a Roblox, but will fail at it. How do I know? Sims had a social network for game makers. I actually really liked their game engine and built some fun games. It's gone now, and I can't even retrieve the games I made.
I'm not sure they are wrong. Look at a game like Roblox and how the kids interact on there. It's not necessarily far off.

Second Life gave us one good thing, and one good thing only:
Xavier: Renegade Angel
I think the infrastructure required for that will collapse with the west.
the west isn't going to collapse, dude, that's doomer hysteria
Its already collapsing culturally and socially.
The question isnt even if at this point, its when.

Agreed, they're not wrong at all.
