I swear to god apartment living can be hell. I've had bad luck with neighbors.

One, upstairs, was an Indian immigrant alcoholic who one time barfed over his balcony onto my deck. I went up to make him clean it up. It was pitiful--he had a little daughter who was just horrified. This was the first time I had seen her, ;though I'd seen her father rummaging through our dumpster from time to time, It was so pitiful, I gave in and didn't hassle her alky father. Poor kid. They moved shortly after the barf incident.

Another upstairs neighbor at another apartment was a psychotic asshole who, when he thought I was being too loud, would go outside to cut the power off to my trap. After a while I figured out the cause and had management put a lock on the utility door. This began a feud which culminated in his getting evicted after about six months of warfare.

Now I live in a house and am looking forward to becoming a hermit in the next two or three years, ideally with no close neighbors.
