While an endorsement from Fox might be the best argument against DeSantis I've heard so far, I really don't think Trump has it in him to tard-wrangle the deepstate into submission. Too much "2 more weeks" under his leadership, whether that be Covid or Stop the Steal.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I was fully behind him until I read this. Now I'm cautious.
It is good to be cautious but think who benefits from a Trump 2024 campaign?
The Dems would rather run against Trump again to make it a referendum on him instead of an election on the issues.
Tying Fox to DeSantis is the best way to harm him. It is like a Mike Pence endorsement. It only hurts you with the base.
I think a Trump 2024 campaign would be a disaster so I still think DeSantis is a better bet.
I'm not unsure of Trump being unable to take on the deepstate.
Like I've said before, Trump seems to exactly be the type of guy that comes at you if you cross him. The fact that people like Murdoch, McConnel, and Hannity are trying to ditch him, makes me think that he's getting a real good taste at where his real friends are. No one's trying to put Ted Cruz or Hannity in Jail, but they are going after Banon and Jones.
Meanwhile, his MAGA Chud candidates are giving him a loyalist base in the house to work with, while anti-Establishment figures like MTG and Gaetz are wreaking havoc.
With the fact that the establishment media is nervous about his Schedule F changes that would allow him to dump swathes of federal employees (which was something he enacted at the last minute), I get the feeling that Trump is going to actually be the bull in a china shop people were afraid he was going to be in 2016.
I honestly hope that's the case because he's going to need to be if he even so much as attempts a 2nd term. He's that much of a wild card that I don't think any armchair politician really knows what he'd do or be able to achieve if he goes no holds barred.
You left out Q's: "Trust the plan" and vote him in again!
Just 2 more weeks and we'll overturn the steal! Justice is right around the corner! Keep the faith, pedes!
C'mon, guys, we have the best disappointments, don't we?
Doesn't matter what Trump would actually pull off, what matters is what the deeps fear he could do.
First term was restrained by 1) unexpectedly winning / no experience and 2) wanting reelection to a 2nd term. He's still doesn't have great judgement on personnel, but it'll be much harder to get a Barr in there now that Trump has hundreds of close advisers that have been with him through the wringer and much harder to keep a Barr from being fired. Even being impeached and removed was a huge dampener first term because he wouldn't get his 2nd, but in a 2nd term being the only President removed would cement his outlier status forever for all time - cyborg people 500 years from now would still be talking about Trump if he got removed.
So the deeps backing DeSantis isn't to say he's a stooge or controlled opposition, but more of a desperation move because he's the far lesser of their evils; he'll do a lot of things they hate, but from within the system. He probably would get more done than Trump, but he's not a wildcard.
They have nothing at all to fear. His tough talk and nothing backing it just resulted in everyone seeing they can just get away with it. It's like threatening punishment to your child and never actually punishing them.
Presidential orders can be ignored with impunity. If they can grab power with a friendly judge, they'll have a judge clog it up in the courts for a year or two to undermine Trump. If they can't, just ignore it. Make up some stuff and call it a leak to muster the NPC army to occupy and attack. Block his communications to the public. Feed wag-the-dog information to get him to throw his support behind whatever swamp project needs support. Tell China what the military is working on and preparing to do.
Oh? He wants to appoint and hire allies? Congress stops anyone that could be effective. Recess nominations? Feed him a list of allies that is comprised of traitors.
The system has been gutted and mutated for over 100 years. There is no way to correct it from the inside, it's like saying "pretty please" to convince cancer to stop metastasizing.
But what you are talking about is an actual constitutional crisis. Trump goes on Truth and says "Comey 2.0, you're fired!", and the President has that authority, and Comey 2.0 refuses to leave. The President has a ton of power that Trump didn't use because he was afraid of losing reelection or being removed.
The deeps don't want a constitutional crisis because it's a wildcard.
Remember when they put up national guard walls around DC to protect Biden because of a few dozen bad actors half of whom were Feds? They fear that situation where the People actually stand up.
If the Dems want to ensure they run against Trump in 2024, they do gay shit like this and have association with Fox hurt DeSantis.
Don't be fooled, Dems would rather have Trump in 2024 as their opponent to make it a referendum on Trump instead of an election about the issues.
