On a slightly less sarcastic note, one of my favourite quotes from politicians here was our minister of education, in 2012:
"One of the points we found was a problem in Maths and Science. It was [Apartheid-era President] Verwoerd who made the subjects difficult because he thought blacks would be a threat to him."
Literally "the white man made maths difficult on purpose to keep a black brother down".
