Does it make me old that I can remember when IGN talked about video games? Also a playable female isn’t a big deal. A playable female figuring corrupt white men who is part of lgbt is yet another reason people who make these games must not be gamers or must not know who actually plays the games.
It would only be okay if the game was originally based off of a female lead, like Tomb Raider or something.
On top of that, when an agenda is pushed, the quality of the content also suffers.
So it's one "fuck you" to the fans who were invested in the series, and another "fuck you" because something they were looking forward to is now ruined, perhaps forever.
I had Lara Croft in mind when I typed that or (if you wanna go old school) Kings Quest 4. I know the first GTA had a playable female. The problem is like you said when they announce it then the reason is usually to push an agenda. I can only imagine how this one will be

Meh, I almost entirely refuse to play women because if there’s any fighting it’s just immersion killing. Women aren’t men…
