Is UHT milk not a thing in the US?

Around here almost all milk is being sold unregfrigerated. That stuff lasts for half a year at least, and that's only the best before date, it'll last even longer.

Edit: Contrary to his claim the sauce does contain preservatives, e.g. salt, vinegar and citric acid. Same stuff as the mayo I have here, which contains raw eggs.

Penguinz0 is just a lazy reaction video youtuber who doesn't research what he talks about.

People have been preserving stuff at home for centuries and if you're running even a small business there are plenty of ways to make stuff sterile.

I mean it looks like their quality control is about as shoddy as penguinzo's and I wouldn't buy meme foods from random tiktok clowns but the assumptions he made are fundamentally wrong.

Yea they don't look exactly trustworthy or competent. I'm just complaining because he went on and on and on about how there's milk, no preservatives and no refrigeration. All of which is irrelevant really. A bad enough seller can fuck up anything, even a bag of salt.

After visiting Asia and finding it easier to get that stuff than regular refrigerated milk, I looked for it in the US and have yet to find it. I would have expected prepper-type places to have it at least, since shelf stable liquid milk beats the hell out of the powdered stuff.

The only milk I see here in those tetrapak containers outside the refrigerated section is the fake nut milks.

My guess is it doesn't last long enough for them. Half a year, maybe a year if you store it well, might be too short for preppers.

also who's the target customer? every household has a fridge, even college dorms have mini fridge in the room and milk consumers usually just finish it in couple days, you either have a habit of drinking milk and just buy more on your weekly grocery shopping or you rarely have milk and just buy a small carton for use in recipes when needed, I really don't see a market for it in the US when supermarkets, refrigeration and transportations are readily available for most of the population.

Of UHT milk? Who isn't? Around here people usually buy twelve packs of 1 liter cartons. That way you only have one opened pack in the fridge and the rest in the store room. Outside of summer you don't even have to put it into the fridge if you use it within a couple of days.

Half a year [. . .] might be too short for preppers.

I have home made fig preserves that will last four times that. My main grain prep should last ~10 years fairly easily, but I rotate it, so I haven't pushed that number.

but those quantities might not be enough to have preservative effects and just there for taste, we're talking about a sloppily put together product by tiktok grifter afterall. also no listing of food coloring used
