It’s not funny, it’s just… Horrible. Elitist, classist, sexist, just… Rank. Heckling (by some autistic bloke who actually works here), and just… So bad.
I got convinced to go to this thing. It’s like, as local as you could get, for me, but yeah…
Dunno if comedy is like this where you live, but man, in this “hipster bar”, dear god there is no way this was worth the cover charge.
Eugh…
were her 2 friends men or women?
Does it sound like I dodged a bullet to you? Because honestly, it probably does, even to me, lol...
I'm not completely naïve...
A couple. One man, one woman. My age. Best described as "derros" (country "bogans", or hicks, to you, but with a surfie "aesthetic". They own a surf shop)...
Basically, people who, uhh, own their own business, so assumed superiority to me (I guess...), while also chain smoking and snorting lines of MDMA in the toilet...
"Quality" folks. Just the kind of people I want to be around (not).
But they have money, you see (gee, I wonder why...), and presumably have their own place... I do not.
So based on that info it seems she invited you as her +1 in order to impress this couple. The couple rejected you, and so she immediately did, too.
Yeah, probably.
Dunno. I am trying not to read to much into it, but yeah, that sounds like an 100% fair assessment of the situation, from my perspective.
Oh well. Not a huge fan of fake "hippie" druggie arseholes (no offence, if you know people like this) who somehow think they are better than me because they have, in their view, "made it", anyway.
It's really no loss, to me.
But yeah, we went from her giving me a hug, when I first rocked up (she was eating dinner with them, in the restaurant part of the pub, and told me to meet them when the gig started. This was not, in my impression beforehand, the plan), to her barely even talking to me by the end of the night, despite my best efforts. The "friends" were nothing but rude and hostile to me, from the start.
But yeah, overall... She barely even gave me the chance to talk to her, let alone to "put her off", or something. They even refused to pull me up a chair, at their "reserved" table (yes really. All of this happened, I swear on my life). So, you know what? Thinking about it now, your guess actually makes complete sense.
Cheers for that. Actually makes me feel a little bit better about it all.
Oh well. I'm too busy to dwell on this, really.
I don't think I did anything particularly "wrong" by only buying my own (super expensive, because overpriced hipster shithole) drinks (they bought hers, literally before I could even ask), and leaving early, here, hey..?
Whole situation was a mess, right from when I rocked up. But oh well. Again, no real "loss", there, methinks...
Also of note: I know how people on MDMA withdrawal behave... I've seen, and experienced it. There was more than a bit of that, last night, from those two (unfortunately)...
I don't know why people, and indeed the media now, continue to insist how "harmless" it is. It really, really isn't. Like any drug, really. It makes you... Act a certain way, if not while you are on it, then certainly on the "come down"...
She hadn't been like that in the morning, at all. So fuck her "friends" for... Making it go the way it did.
