I thought that it was mocking them for being emotional over a movie while failing to understand that the man was far more emotional than they could ever know. He just didn't show it outwardly. The emotions of the women are manufactured, trite, artificial, and shallow while the man is deeper thinker with genuine feelings regarding his life.
