FYI - It was the first PM of Pakistan that demanded a separate country, when he realized he wouldn't get absolute power after the British left.
It was a muslim power monger that wanted the divide, and make no mistake, the British were happy to cut along the dotted lines. The Indian government at the time was filled with "we are all brothers yo!" folks, and for the next 40 years they lived in delusions of "sanctimonious socialism".
